Does WoW Forever have dual spec?

Yes. Blizzard’s WoW Forever class deep dives say it plainly: “Dual Specialization also becomes available at level 40.” The same sentence appears in the Priest and Warrior, Paladin, and Rogue and Warlock deep dives. With it, a Warrior can keep Protection for dungeons and Arms or Fury for questing, and a Priest can keep Holy for groups and Shadow for leveling alone.

Beta coverage reports a level cap of 30, so testers cannot try dual spec yet. Blizzard has not announced what learning a second specialization will cost at launch. Earlier Classic versions charged gold for it, but that does not tell us what WoW Forever will do, so this page will be updated when Blizzard publishes the price.

Where you change talents in WoW Forever

Talents start at level 10, one point per level, and Blizzard’s deep dives say that to change them, “including Legacy talents”, you visit a class trainer in one of the major cities. Your class talents and your Legacy perks are both changed there, so it pays to plan both before you travel. The Legacy talents planner shows how your 16 launch Legacy Points can be spent.

WoW Forever respec cost in the beta

The beta has its own temporary rule. Warcraft Tavern’s write-up of the 24 September beta update quotes the patch notes: if you have not recently changed your talents, a respec costs 1 silver, and the price rises sharply for repeated resets before returning to 1 silver an hour later. The notes say this is temporary and for the beta only, so do not plan your launch gold around it.

How to plan two WoW Forever specs now

Whatever dual spec ends up costing, the planning work is the same: two complete builds that share your level and your Legacy Talented rank.

  1. Open your class in the WoW Forever talent calculator and build your first spec, for example a leveling or damage build.
  2. Copy the build link and keep it.
  3. Select Reset and build the second spec, for example a tanking, healing or group build, then copy that link too.
  4. Compare the two links side by side in two browser tabs. Each link restores its own points, level and Legacy Talented rank.
  5. Set the level to 40 in both builds to see what each spec looks like on the day dual spec unlocks: 31 talent points, or more with the Legacy perk Talented.

Each class page lists every talent with all of its ranks, which helps when you decide where two specs can share points. A Priest, for instance, cannot have both Penance (21 points in Discipline) and Prayer of Mending (31 points in Holy) in one build, which is exactly the kind of choice a second spec solves. See the Priest talents or the Warrior talents to try it.

What we are watching for

  • The gold cost of the second specialization, and of normal talent resets after the beta’s 1 silver rule ends.
  • Whether swapping specs also swaps your action bars.
  • Whether Blizzard changes the level 40 unlock before launch on 4 November 2026.

When Blizzard confirms any of these, the date at the top of this page and the changelog of the calculator will show it.

Questions players ask about WoW Forever dual spec

What level is dual spec in WoW Forever?

Level 40, according to Blizzard’s class deep dives. That is also the level at which a character with every point in one tree takes its 31-point talent, so your second spec can be a complete build from the day you unlock it.

How much does it cost to respec in WoW Forever?

In the beta, a respec costs 1 silver if you have not changed talents recently, and the price rises sharply for repeated resets before dropping back to 1 silver an hour later. Blizzard calls this temporary, and it has not announced launch prices for respecs or for the second specialization.

Does dual spec include Legacy talents?

Blizzard has not said. Its deep dives only say that class talents and Legacy talents are both changed at a class trainer in a major city.
