WoW Forever is in beta until launch on 4 November 2026, and Blizzard changes talents with almost every update. This page logs the WoW Forever beta changes to the talent trees, the racials and the Legacy perks from one client version to the next, so you can tell at a glance whether the talents you planned still work. For everything else in a beta update, such as quests, bugs and dungeons, read Blizzard’s own WoW Forever Beta Development Notes.

Each entry names the client version and the date of the beta update. The changes come from comparing the talent data of the two versions and are checked against Blizzard’s notes where those cover the same change.

WoW Forever beta changes on 15 October 2026 (client 1.60.1.70425)

Compared with client 1.60.1.70291 from early October, this update changed four talent trees in a big way, reworked the racials of nine races and moved two Legacy perks.

Talent changes

  • Shaman (Elemental): Lava Burst moved from row 7 down to row 5 and no longer needs a prerequisite, Elemental Mastery came back as the 31-point talent and needs Lava Burst, and Call of Thunder left the tree. Trial by Fire replaced Improved Fire Nova, and eight Elemental talents changed position. Restoration’s Tidal Focus and Totemic Focus swapped rows.
  • Mage (Arcane and Fire): Missile Barrage moved from row 4 to row 1 and now has two ranks, Arcane Wrath became the new 16-point talent, and Arcane Blast was reworked to grant Spell Damage from Intellect with each cast. In Fire, Improved Fire Blast replaced Wake of Fire, Fire Power dropped from five ranks to three, and Critical Mass grew from three ranks to five. Ice Lance now deals 200% more damage to frozen targets, down from 300%.
  • Priest (Discipline and Shadow): Shadow lost Shadow Affinity and Improved Fade and gained Dark Inspiration, which raises your party’s Spirit after Mind Blast or a full Mind Flay. Improved Mind Flay now makes each tick stronger than the last. In Discipline, Mental Strength moved up to row 2, Improved Power Word: Shield down to row 3 and Improved Mana Burn to row 4.
  • Warlock (Affliction): Malediction was replaced by Grim Reach, which extends the range of Affliction spells by up to 20%. Amplify Curse and Shadow Mastery have new wording.
  • Smaller text changes: Warrior Bloodthrill; Paladin Champion of the Light (now up to 30% of Intellect as spell damage, down from 60%), Reckoning (now stores up to four extra attacks) and Shield Specialization (4% Mana per block, down from 6%); Hunter Expose Prey, Predator’s Edge, Rapid Recuperation, Resourcefulness and Trueshot Aura (now party or raid); Druid Furor, Leader of the Pack and Moonkin Form (both auras now reach the raid and no longer exclude each other).

Rogue talents did not change, though Hack and Slash now counts as the reworked Sword Specialization in the Classic comparison.

Racial changes

The weapon racials were replaced: Human Sword Specialization became Ruthless, Dwarf Mace Specialization became Earth Fury and Orc Axe Specialization became Savage, so your weapon no longer decides your racial bonus. Tauren, Undead, Troll, Orc, Gnome and both Skyborne also changed. Every number is on the WoW Forever racials page.

Legacy perk changes

Master Chef and Luremaster moved one column to the left in the Professions tree. Blizzard’s notes call this a visual change: both were already available with 5 points committed. See the Legacy talents planner.

What the beta changes mean for your talents

If you planned an Elemental Shaman, an Arcane or Fire Mage, a Shadow or Discipline Priest or an Affliction Warlock before 15 October, open the class in the WoW Forever talent calculator and plan it again: talents that moved rows or changed ranks no longer fit an older link. Plans for the other classes still fit, but check the wording of the talents listed above.

For how each class differs from Classic rather than from the last beta build, see WoW Forever class changes.
